Fire exposure in reinforced concrete structures can be very destructive, that might lead to a total collapse of the building. A review regarding the characteristics, mechanical behavior and influence of reinforced concrete in the world was realized. Documents from six regions were reviewed: Brazil, Australia, Canada, United States of America, European Union and Japan. Most of the them presented three methods to design the structure against fire, being the first a standardized procedure, the second one tending to give more accurate results and the last method is the most complex, but gives the promise of very realist results. We could check in more details the Eurocode 2, the European standard for concrete structures, which in its part 1-2, gave us the three methods to find the minimum thickness and concrete cover for the structural members under fire conditions. To be able to confirm if these methods are reliable and can be used in any situation, we developed a sample project, which is a six-story multi-residential building.
