Yonggui Kao received his B.E. degree from Beijing Jiaotong University in 1996. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Ocean University of China in 2005 and 2008, respectively. He is now a professor at the Department of Mathematics, Harbin Institute of Technology (Weihai). With an interdisciplinary educational background in mathematics, control theory and physics, his research interests include stochastic systems, impulsive systems, neural networks, stability theory, fractional-order systems, fuzzy systems and sliding mode control.


Changhong Wang received his Ph.D. degree in Navigation, Guidance and Control from Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin, China in 1991. He is currently a full professor at the School of Astronautics, Harbin Institute of Technology. His research interests include intelligent control and intelligent system, inertial technology, robotics and precision servo system.


Hongwei Xia received his Ph.D. degree from Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin, China in 2008. He is currently a full professor at the School of Astronautics, Harbin Institute of Technology. His research interests include intelligent control and intelligent system, aircraft control and simulation, image processing and its application, etc.


Yue Cao is a Ph.D. student at Harbin Institute of Technology (Weihai).

This book focuses on the applications of various types of fractional-order differential equations. The authors present their latest research results. This book for the first time

introduces the concept of general fractional chaotic systems and their synchronisation,

investigates the synchronisation of a fractional coupled reaction-diffusion system using a sliding mode control approach,

considers the impacts of fear and prey escape on a fractional-order prey-predator system with Beddington-DeAngelis functional response.

Authors believe that these recent research results can promote the applications of fractional-order differential equations in diverse areas.
