A romantic novel is set in the Thai holiday resort of Phuket. Two English women on holiday and their emotional journey whilst there. After Maggies serious operation, Jan is accompanying her friend on her recuperation trip, but very quickly she uses the opportunity to explore her own sexual frustrations. Their encounters with various tourists include a colorful and friendly German couple and a mysterious older man. The exotic atmosphere of their surroundings is exciting and stimulating to both women and the budding relationship between a scuba diver instructor and Jan begins to irritate her friend. She finds herself drawn to a handsome Thai ,who is working at the hotel where she is staying ,becoming confused about her feelings for her family at home and this attractive and sympathetic younger man. The arrival of her husband confuses her too as their marriage has become stagnant and the possibility of a relationship outside the marriage becomes a threat to her morals and slightly prim outlook. But the heat is on in more ways than one.

Dougie Squires is a celebrated choreographer and stage director. Orchid in my Drink is his second novel. His first was Four Play Plus . He has also written three stage plays My Darling Janey" based on Calamity Jane, Sing as we go a musical play about Gracie Fields and The Triumph of her Will , a play about Leni Refenstahl.
