Professor Landesman takes the reader through a discussion of the basis of human knowledge in sense–perception and the accuracy of sense–perception in conveying knowledge of the external world. He then goes on to explore the problem of skepticism, the nature of self–knowledge, the validity of induction and the ethics of belief.
