The individual - who is excluded from the collectivization process - is powerless to break down the massive walls the barbarian have constructed. They can only stand their ground and never doubt themselves. If they do, they are lost to the maddening crowd. The bottom line, the individual is under constant attack. What is an individual? How are they distinguished from the mass man? What is role identity and how is it incompatible with individualism? How is the abstraction, the ideology, the religious identity incompatible with individualism? Why is the crowd so opposed to the individual? What methods does the crowd use to suppress them?
