A lack of access to quality health care is one of the greatest barriers to realization of the right to education for all youth in South Africa. Poor health, specifically adolescents' access to appropriate sexual and reproductive health services, negatively influences the access to education, the retention of learners in school as well as their educational success. This study supplied resources to provide health and career counselling to learners at schools or near schools. The provision of such services through schools enables accessibility and the uptake of services. The results of this study have showed that the combination of reproductive health and career services is effective in providing adolescents with unique opportunities to access information, services and skills in order to make informed and supported decisions about their health and future plans. Interventions such as this one should be offered on a large scale, adapting the design and implementation based on the context of the area and needs of the learners. These results may inform future large-scale implementation efforts in the future.
