The need for a cleaner environment and the continuous increase in power demands makes more important, electric power generation from renewable energy sources, via solar and wind, etc. It needs grid-tied inverters to feed the generated power to the grid. The present work suggests a grid-tied dc-to-ac inverter to eliminate the shortcomings of the conventional phase controlled dc-to-ac inverter by improving the wave shape of the line current. A grid-tied inverter is realized by PIC16F877A microcontroller based circuits. Proteus VSM simulation software is used to simulate different microcontroller based circuits. The proposed grid-tied inverter has two half-wave single-phase converters which are controlled by discontinuous phase control switching.
