This edited book is the outcome of the academic contributions by seven researchers examined the various issues related to Ageing and/or elderly persons (60+ years) belonged to India and selected states/rural-urban settings. Though the focus is mainly on data published from Indian censuses, attempts are also being made by some researchers to analyse the data from large-scale as well as micro-level studies. The strength of this book lies in presenting multiplicity of ageing issues such as levels and trends in the growth of elderly, their economic activities and socio-economic profile, disabilities and health problems, lifestyle habits, headship status, poverty conditions and policies and programmes for the elderly' welfare.
