Interaction with computers is ever-changing; over ten years ago Rosalind Picard coined the phrase "Affective Computing" for computing that relates to, arises from, or deliberately influences emotion or other affective phenomena. Since then, numerous workshops and symposia emerged, and this book developed out of some of those events.
The book is intended to give a wider overview on the developments in the field, by adressing theoretical foundations, emotion and affect as input, as well as output, together with user experience studies, usability and design issues.
The 20 papers presented here are organized in topical sections on theoretical considerations, sensing emotions, user experience and design, as well as affective applications.
