"All aspects of diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment are discussed in great detail, offering a state-of-the-art discussion of this topic. ... This is an excellent book for students, trainees, and experienced practitioners. ... This is a great compendium for this specific patient population and provides a compact source of the most current understanding and treatment options." (Michael Bates, Doody's Book Reviews, August, 2018)

Khalil Fattouch is a well-known surgeon with high expertise in the field of aortic valve and root management. He has published several papers in the context of valve disease and is highly respected by the scientific committee. He has already co-edited a book in secondary mitral regurgitation, which was very carefully managed.
Patrizio Lancellotti is a pioneer in the field of valvular heart disease. He has published several papers related to the main topic of the present book and is part of the guidelines writing group on valvular heart disease. He has already co-edited several books including the secondary mitral regurgitation with Khalil Fattouch.
Dr. Mani Vannan, MBBS, FACC, FAHA, FASE is a pioneer in the field of Echocardiography and Cardiovascular Imaging. He is Chief of Cardiovascular Imaging and Co-Chief of Structural and Valvular Center of Excellence at the Piedmont Heart Institute, Atlanta, GA, USA. He has been a clinical cardiologist, educator and investigator for over 15 years. He started his career graduating from medical school in India and then trained in the United Kingdom before pursuing further cardiology practice in the US. He has been at the forefront of advanced imaging technologies, techniques and how these practices are applied in clinical practice. Dr. Vannan’s passion is integrated cardiovascular imaging where a collaborative effort is made across different modalities to address questions for a given disease to aid in clinical-decision making and guide interventions and management.
Dr. Giuseppe Speziale is a cardiac surgeon specialised in minimally invasive cardiac surgery, valve repair and reconstruction, aortic reconstruction and revascularisation. Since 2008 he has been the Director of the Department of Cardiac Surgery at the Anthea Hospital of Bari, and he also works at the Villa Torri Hospital (Bologna) and at the ICC – Istituto Clinico Cardiologico (Rome).
This book describes the different aspects of aortic valve and root diseases including comprehensive discussion of the state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging options, disease risk stratification, selection of candidates for valve repair or percutaneous intervention, and most recent therapeutic options. The growing prevalence of valvular heart disease represents a major challenge in terms of short- and long-term management and surveillance. Aortic valve diseases, including aortic stenosis and regurgitation, are among the most frequent of these, while the number of cases of aortic root disease is also on the rise. Aortic valve disease treatment options include valve surgery, valve repair, minimally invasive valve surgery, and percutaneous approaches and all are covered in this volume.
Advances in Treatments for Aortic Valve and Root Diseases is a highly illustrated, case oriented reference aimed at cardiology fellows in training, while also helpful to surgeons, cardiologists, imagers, interventionalists, as well as other clinicians and students involved in the diagnosis and treatment of aortic valve and root diseases.
