In Advances in Materials Science Research. Volume 39, the origin and fundamentals of the electrodeposition technique are introduced, and the characteristics of the nucleation process are described. Additionally, a procedure to analyze the nucleation process in electrodeposition is explained. The authors go on to address the role electropolymerization plays in electrochemical systems in the context of interplay between kinetics and energetics. Next, spherulitic textures of poly[tetrafluoroethylene-co-(perfluoroalkyl vinyl ether)] (PFA) are examined in detail using polarized optical microscopy. The PFA consists of random comonomer units among the tetrafluoroethylene units which crystallize as spherulites composed of lamellae, although polytetrafluoroethylene usually forms extended-chain crystals because of the rigid nature of 13/6 helices. The effect of gluconates as a corrosion inhibitor for mild steel in acidic medium is investigated, as well as the adsorption characteristic of gluconates. Lastly, attempts are made to study the correlation between the corrosion of two classes of mild steels, as well as their corrosion inhibition, versus the chemical compositions of two classes of mild steels suitable for galvanizing.
