Fatos Xhafa received his PhD in Computer Science in 1998 from the Department of Computer Science of the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC), Barcelona, Spain. He is currently a Professor Titular (Hab. Full Professor) at UPC, BarcelonaTech. He was a Visiting Professor at Birkbeck College, University of London (UK) in 2009–2010 and Research Associate at Drexel University, Philadelphia (USA) in 2004/2005. Prof. Xhafa has published widely in peer-reviewed international journals, conferences/workshops, book chapters and edited books and proceedings. He has an extensive editorial and reviewing experience, and is the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Grid and Utility Computing and the International Journal of Space-based and Situated Computing. He is also a member of the EB of several international journals. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Elsevier book series “Intelligent Data-Centric Systems” and the Springer book series “Lecture Notes in Data Engineering and Communication Technologies”.
His research interests include parallel and distributed algorithms, massive data processing and collective intelligence, optimization, P2P, and grid and cloud computing.
Dr. Srikanta Patnaik is a Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, SOA University, Bhubaneswar, India. He has received his PhD (Engineering) in Computational Intelligence from Jadavpur University, India in 1999. Dr. Patnaik has published around 100 research papers in international journals and conference proceedings. He is the author of 2 textbooks and 23 edited volumes and a number of invited book chapters, published by leading international publishers such as Springer-Verlag, and Kluwer Academic. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Information and Communication Technology and the International Journal of Computational Vision and Robotics and also Editor-in-Chief of the book series on “Modeling and Optimization in Science and Technology” published from Springer, Germany. He is also Series Editor of “Automation, Control and Robotics” published from River Publication, Netherland.
Madjid Tavana is Professor and Distinguished Chair of Business Analytics at La Salle University, where he serves as Chairman of the Business Systems and Analytics Department. He also holds an Honorary Professorship in Business Information Systems at the University of Paderborn in Germany. Dr. Tavana is Distinguished Research Fellow at the Kennedy Space Center, the Johnson Space Center, the Naval Research Laboratory at Stennis Space Center, and the Air Force Research Laboratory. He recently received the prestigious NASA Space Act Award. He holds an MBA, PMIS, and PhD in Management Information Systems and received his Post-Doctoral Diploma in Strategic Information Systems from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He has published 14 books and over 250 research papers in international academic journals. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Applied Decision Sciences, International Journal of Management and Decision Making, International Journal of Communication Networks and Distributed Systems, International Journal of Knowledge Engineering and Data Mining, International Journal of Strategic Decision Sciences, and the International Journal of Enterprise Information Systems.
