The UNDP identified 17 Sustainable Development Goals for the future of humans and the environment. The SDGs are highly interrelated and connected. In particular, SDG 6, SDG7, SDG9, SDG11, and SDG13 are strategized to mitigate problems related to clean energy sustainability, climate change challenges and directions to mitigate greenhouse problems, and the sustainability of healthy environment for all kinds of life on the planet. Future production, operation, and energy management for sustainable development are major global matters. The dramatic energy crises faced by nations worldwide in the recent era demonstrated the need for dedicated research and development to sustain clean energy sourcing, processing, production, utilization, and management. It is not only global warming and climate issues but also nations' economic and future security issues. The current transportation methods are mostly fossil fuel-based, and they are dramatically increasing, causing increased pollution and global climate change. Accordingly, a departure from hydrocarbon-based energy markets to a sustainable, clean market is essential. However, energy sources from renewable sources are inefficient and still require development to enhance the renewable energy system performance. Almost all types of renewable energies suffer from interruption and unpredictable availability for smooth and sustained production in accordance with demand. One possible solution is integrating energy storage and/or hybridizing between renewable-renewable or renewable-hydrocarbon-based energies. This book contains chapters, in terms of research findings and reviews, on the advances in system and process development in engineering, environmental, economic, health, and social sustainability.
