Adolescence is an extremely important phase for individuals, as it is the period of human development in which adolescents begin to discover themselves and naturally transition from childhood to adulthood. During this time, they undergo various physical and psychological changes that can be good or bad, depending on how they adapt. When these changes of adolescence are compounded by chronic renal failure (CRF) and haemodialysis therapy, the adaptation process becomes even more difficult. This study is bibliographic in nature and aimed to describe the adaptation of adolescent patients to haemodialysis. The results showed several changes, which can be physical or psychological, social difficulties, adaptive issues that adolescents have to face, and the approach of nursing professionals to adolescents with chronic diseases, showing how the pathology makes it impossible for human beings to live a normal life, forcing them to live in a regulated manner, complying with the restrictions naturally determined by the disease.
