Adolescence from an etymological point of view comes from the Latin adolecer, which means "to come to maturity or to grow up", it is the period that places us between the childhood that is left behind and adulthood between 10 and 19 years of life, marked by all the physical changes that young people face. Adolescence brings with it the biological and social awareness of the opposite sex, which initiates sexual attraction. Therefore, being an adolescent is a period of transition to adulthood, where a series of developmental changes occur beyond physical and sexual maturation, experiencing economic and social independence, developing the identity to be able to play the role of an adult, gaining the capacity for abstract reasoning. Adolescents in this period of their lives may be victims of incest, sexual violence, unwanted and unplanned pregnancies, or be subjected to group pressures to belong to sects and gangs, alcohol, tobacco and drug use and other addictions such as social networks and video games.
