An updated review of the topics of acupuncture and herpes zoster ophthalmicus is given. New treatments for this entity from the western and traditional points of view are presented. Finally, a case report was presented on the follow-up of a patient who achieved spectacular results, relieving pain in the first acupuncture session and total healing in 6 days, with no sequelae.

Ramón Hernández Sarduy graduated in General Medicine in 1988. He started working as an acupuncturist since September 1991 at the Pain Clinic in Placetas. He gained a great deal of experience in traditional aboriginal medicine practices. She graduated as a specialist in Indigenous Health at the Federal University of São Paulo, 2016.
