Progressive research in hard turning and milling operations has been accelerated since the new tools based on mixed ceramic and CBN was developed and successfully integrated into various industrial applications. The next improvements in tool grade and insert geometry together with new concepts of machines suited for hard machining operations indicate increasing industrial relevance of hard turning and milling operations in the technological processes of parts production. This monograph reports about the specific aspects of hard turning focused on plastic deformation in the cutting zone, mechanical and thermal decomposition, analysis of true dynamics and finally some investigations of hard turning process based on AE technique. The low and high frequency AE techniques were adapted for investigation of true dynamics of processes during hard turning, analysis of specific aspects of plastic deformation, tool failure detection and prediction.
