Many Christians believe that Jesus will rule in the future but they do not believe that He is doing so right now. They believe He will return and then begin to rule over the earth. This is not true because He is ruling right now over the entire world and will continue to rule until all His enemies are subdued. None of these things are still going to happen because they have already occurred. His rule is over everything in this present world and He also has total dominion over the world to come. The presence of the Kingdom is found supremely in the Person of Jesus Himself. We know that the devil is still around causing a lot of harm everywhere, but he will eventually be subdued. The full manifestation of God's Kingdom has yet to come but it is with us now. Of course, Satan still has a certain limited freedom to do as he wills, but Jesus has defeated him. When Jesus returns He will cast out those who have not acknowledged Him as King and Lord. The Kingdom of God is not a realm but God's rule and dominion. The Kingdom of God is the Kingly power and dominion that He has. The realm in which God rules is the heavens and the earth. When we submit to God and receive the Kingdom of God we receive God's rule.
