Finance is the life blood of any enterprise; any enterprise which commits itself to an activity requires finances. The nature and source of funds will have impact on the issue of the ownership, management control etc. The manner in which the funds have been utilized for the benefit of the enterprise and ultimately its ability to earn adequate profits can be termed as good and acceptable financial performance. Financial performance is an important factor that influences the finances of the organizations. But financial performance in its turn is influenced by certain factors, particularly the physical performance which influences the costs and revenues and the resultant margins. Financial performance is usually judged in terms of profit both in relation to sales and investment. Survival of an enterprise depends on its performance and unless it is able to obtain positive net margins of acceptable size out of its activities, the very existence/survival will be under threat. The analysis of the financial performance of TSL and TML for the last 20 years (from 1990-91 to 2015-16) shows interesting growth trends.
