"Gimme Some Truth," a song by John Lennon, strikes a chord with me because of its compelling message. Like John Lennon, I have grown weary of being 'stroked', 'played', and 'jived'. I am hungry for some truth, but the Establishment won't 'come clean'. Everything they do is designed to protect their 'special interests' above all else. That song is the cornerstone of my faith in the American Dream. It reminds me that it is every American's right to disagree. It shows how you frame an argument is what defines you. How far you take it is your choice, but what you do with your difference of opinion is the true test of character. Until the full realization of the American Dream of equality, fraternity, truth and justice is achieved, you cannot claim you live in a free society.
