This is a book about a journey. A journey that takes you into the past through photographic images of present items that have been discarded, no longer needed, no longer useful, or technologically challenged. "Journey To Remember ...And Other Musings" is about endings. Whether it is a building, a car or truck, a pedal car or any other item, they most often start useful and beautiful. Somewhere along the line we have become a throw-away society. If we do not need it any longer, it stops working, or a myriad of other reasons, we just hoard it, throw it away, stop using it, put it in the back pasture, let it rust and decay. Many times if it is large enough, it becomes a catch-all for all the other stuff being "collected." The items and buildings in this book are tired, worn out, no longer kept up, rusted, abandoned and ready for the scrap heap. They are discards, often times there, but likely paid little, if any, attention to anymore. They are left to decay, to fall apart, to quit working and running. They are misfits in a world that is passing them by. The photography on these pages has been taken because there are still some who notice, whose attention is grabbed, who are mesmerized by what has happened to those once vital items of the past. They remember those items and buildings with fondness, now that they are part of our past. The authors hope is that they will help you to do that as well. Journey photographically with Professional Photographer, Author and Entrepreneur, Paul E. Donihue, as he discovers America's "Mighty Big Truck," muses over a hundred plus old discarded church, captures a dilapidated brick factory, and reminds us of consumer computers that used "floppy disks." Travel into the past as he reveals an old manure spreader that was ready for the burn pile, a Flexible Flyer racing sled with wheels, actually made by the makers of Flexible Flyer snow sleds. Take this incredible photographic journey with these and dozens of other items he has found and photographically remembered. Journey with him as he shares that we need to know the past and how we got to the present. In "A Journey To Remember ...And Other Musings" you will see incredibly beautiful images as well as be challenged. Whatever you do, enjoy the photography and the journey itself.
