In his long career as a journalist before the September 11, 2001, attacks on the United States, Deepak Tripathi lived and worked in the United States and Britain, and reported from Afghanistan, Syria, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and India. Turning to his current research interest in great power rivalries and conflicts in the Middle East and South Asia, he has since published several books, and more than a hundred and fifty articles.
