The latest research today reveals that a growing number of pastors and churches feel a sense of uncomfortable inadequacy and unpreparedness in counseling people who suffer from troubling, emotional ills and mental illness, especially as their problems are still considered "taboo" by many. Additionally, these needs have exploded into a gigantic counseling industry, based on secular, naturalistic philosophies. The purpose of this thesis is to analyze what selected theologians and noted psychologists have written about mankind's deepest needs in order to discover the extent, if any, to which these two worldviews may be integrated without compromise of Biblical truth. The research utilized in this project will involve a critical series of convergence/divergence studies of six theologians and six psychologists representing different models of highly respected theological thought and psychological theory. It will become evident, to the reader, that these critiques affirm the spiritual and psychological advantages of a Christian theistic worldview. This book is written for pastors, counselors and concerned believers seeking truth, inner healing and faithfulness to God's inerrant Word.
