The accessibility of research papers can be regarded as a positive point in that it can help other researchers to be informed of the findings of many researchers but the accessibility at the same time might also be abused by those who are either novices or cheaters. The present work is a very brief review of the research studies on plagiarism in the second language (L2) academic writing while it has been considered to present as comprehensive as possible, review of some of the significant discussions in academic writing. The author hopes to provide a better understanding of the notion of plagiarism for academics as it can help verifying a more healthful moral condition for own selves and others to write and publish original works through more confident.

Tahmineh Khalili received M.A. degree in Applied linguistics at the University of Kashan, Kashan, Iran. She received her B.A. in Japanese language and literature from the University of Tehran, Iran. Her fields of interest include L2 teaching methods, L2 writing pedagogy and research, and meta-analysis in SLA.
