Childhood malnutrition is a major public health issue and accounts for about 30% of deaths among under-five children globally. The presence of bilateral pitting oedema of nutritional origin, or a mid-upper-arm circumference of less than 110mm in children age 1- 5years also shows Severe Acute Malnutrition. Children who are severely malnourished do not only tend to have increased morbidity and mortality but are also more prone to suffer from delayed mental development, poor school performance and reduced intellectual achievement. The objective of this study is to assess the management of Severe Acute Malnutrition among children under five in the Tolon district. The study used a convenience sampling method in the Tolon district in the northern region of Ghana. Simple random sampling was used to recruit 173 caregivers with children under five with SAM who are enrolled or ever been enrolled into the CMAM program and data was analyzed using STATA version 13. The study is expected to assess the management of Severe Acute Malnutrition among children under five in the studies region.
