The use of micro simulation modelling in traffic engineering has been proved to give effective solution in congestion management.Using micro simulation modelling is one of the best approaches to provide non infrastructure solution during non-recurrent incidents. This thesis delineates practical uses of PARAMICS during planning to handle uncertain events along the arterial Goodwood road. Additionally, importance of emergency management plan, such as response and clearance strategies have been emphasized in this study. After creating artificial incidents at different locations, vehicle diversion from Goodwood Road has been measured. In addition, lane delay, turning delay, flow count, speed, density, queue length, Level of Service and impact at an intersecting road have been measured compared with base model. It is concluded that double lane incidents for long duration at downstream end has major impact on delay and associated problems. Further, congestion information for the drivers can improve situation noteworthy.
