The concept of judgment occurs more than 500 times in the Old Testament. One whole book has the name related to that topic - The Book of Judges. Previously the term "judgment" was commonly used to translate several original Hebrew words, but this is not the case any more. What has happened to the term and concept of judgment? Common meaning assumed for judgment today is negative, such as punishment. To find what is original meaning for the term, the author has examined the Hebrew words for judge/judgment as used in the Pentateuch, the foundation of biblical theology. Special attention is given to the context in which the word is found, both literary and historical. Each of the 120 verses in the Pentateuch is examined and conclusion proposed. This work is useful for serious word study lovers. It may serve as a commentary to selected verses from the Pentateuch. Although at times technical, it is an easy read for Bible enthusiasts.
