Played out against the actual events of the times, Muriel Maddox's novel is an absorbing story of two sisters, Barbara and Annabel Ashford, who grow up in a privileged life in Washington, DC and whose lives take divergent paths. Barbara, the older creative daughter, longs desperately for a baby sister, and when finally Annabel arrives, she is ecstatic. She will now have someone to play with and share secrets with in the house on Tracy Place. But things will turn out far differently than Barbara expected. Set in the wealthy Virginia hunt country and the glamorous capitals of Paris and Beirut, we meet the different men involved with the sisters, as Annabel weaves her web of greed and deceit, until fate eventually catches up with her and brings the tale to a dramatic conclusion. * * * * * Muriel Maddox spent her early childhood in Rio de Janeiro where her father, a career naval officer, was stationed. Upon returning to the United States she attended Potomac School in Washington, DC, and at ten her first poetry was published in "The Washington Post." She has written short stories and screenplays, and is also the author of "Captain from Corfu," "Llantarnam," "Love and Betrayal," and "Noela & That Man In Rio," all from Sunstone Press. She has traveled extensively in Greece and on Greek cruise ships and visited the islands of Corfu, Rhodes and Mykonos.
