Climate Change and the resulting reduction in world food supplies cause a collapse of governments and breakdown of law and order. Aliens arrive to restore order and incorporate the Earth into their empire, called the Confederation Galactica. Steve Stern, having lost his family, joins the Earth resistance to the Confederation.
