Bhaja Govindam is the great work of great Adi shankara charya. Adi Shankara seems to emphacise that this poems meant to evolve ignorant man to an evolved human being since it explains and expounds a theory of spiritual perfection which can be understood, practiced, pursued and perfected by all ignorant men. Shankara says that to get a human birth is rare: having got human birth to have a masculine temperament is rarer still.
