Jodi, a classmate of Todd's, is a social outcast, and feels very inferior to her attractive and popular twin sister. Jodi has always loved horses, and when she finally gets the chance to take riding lessons, she worries that her crippled foot will prevent her from learning to ride. But River is willing to give her a chance, and Todd is willing to help her get started, albeit at first begrudgingly. But their mutual love of horses results in a developing friendship in spite of the fact Todd has a crush on Jodi's twin sister. Sierra, River, Todd, and Jodi all share a mutual love of horses, and it is often the willing, forgiving, and courageous nature of the horses that help them find the courage to face the challenges and problems in their lives
