When Navy SEAL Vince Romano's wound from Afghanistan leaves him less than one hundred percent capable of rejoining his team. He is forced to retire which throws him into a deep depression and, in desperation, he tries to escape its clutches by fleeing in his parents' fifty-foot motor sailer Webegon. Caught in a storm, Vince is knocked senseless and regains consciousness to Webegon aground in a tropical lagoon on an uncharted island. He soon learns that the island is inhabited by descendants of War of 1812 English privateers and they have lost none of their piratical ways, preying on hapless vessels that run aground in the same lagoon - Treachery Lagoon. Vince seems to enter a time warp when he discovers that the islanders have been insulated from two hundred years of progress and live as they did in the early nineteenth century. But there is treason afoot as the governor's daughter, Carolyn, a beautiful psychopath, foments a civil war in order to keep the privateer treasure for herself. Her young daughter, Maggie, is caught in the middle and Vince agrees to dive for the treasure in exchange for Maggie's life. The plan goes horribly wrong and Maggie is left an orphan. Vince discovers that the islanders have made a pact with Shining Path terrorists from Peru and trade all their booty and hostages from ravaged ships with them for food and basic equipment. After he witnesses the cold-blooded killing of three innocent people by Shining Path soldiers, Vince can no longer stand by and do nothing. It is a fight to the death with the outcome in question right until the very end.
