Good Harbor was a lumbering village in the late nineteenth century on the shore of Lake Michigan in Leelanau County Michigan. This book has original news items as they appeared in the Leelanau Enterprise from 1880 to 1931. Descriptive entries about Good Harbor from the Michigan State Gazeteer and Business Directory from 1875 to 1931 are also included.. The news are typical of local weekly newspapers of that era. They tell who visited whom, who was sick, and who the local teacher was. There are also serious news accounts about the Vernon disaster which took the life of pioneer Charles Kropp, the ill-fated attempt to build a railroad from Maple City to Good Harbor and to Leland as well as the story of the fire that destroyed the saw mill and the village.
