This work is comprised of reflections, essays, and poetry that defines my journey towards a more socially just orientation. I am inviting aspiring social justice advocates to join me on this transformative journey. I encourage you to approach these pages with a critical mind and open heart, more-so than a critical eye. (This journey is not about APA format.) My intent is to come to you as vulnerable and transparent as I felt when I was first introduced to these life-changing concepts. My reflections are the result of wrestling with difficult text and courageous conversations (and sometimes debates) with esteemed classmates and professors in my doctoral program. I offer these initial reflections to you in hopes that you will find opportunities to reflect and deeply examine the course of your own journey. It is my personal conviction that we can never facilitate true change until it has first transpired in us. Critical self-reflection is the bedrock of becoming a social justice advocate.
