Journeys of the Heart is a memoir of short stories that I have been working on over the past several years. I never thought it would come to fruition and based on the memories in this new, upcoming book, you will have a closer peek into my life as I remember it. You will see through these stories how I came to this point in my life and how I have overcome the many different obstacles that life has thrown my way. A curve ball of events, some of which you may even relate to, and even may have experienced yourself. This memoir was written to document different events in my childhood from the earliest memories I recollect and evolve into the woman I have become today. My book, "Journeys of the Heart" is a book of memoirs recollected from my earliest childhood memories to those that are more recent. Memories of my childhood adventures, times of physical, mental, and sexual abuse, a life which was built on lies and feeling unloved. Throughout this book there are many stories that are close to my heart, ones I hoped to put into a book with the hopes of relating to other families and children that may currently be going through the same types of issues in their own family relationships or have done so in the past. Going through life as an abused child, I always felt I wasn't good enough, that it was my fault somehow. I even felt that I may have deserved that kind of treatment, my self esteem was at an all time low. I would like to put those feelings to rest, and let others know that they can be overcome. Things do get better as time passes. Losing one's self in the pages of a novel full of invented characters is a delicious way to spend an afternoon, but there is a particular kind of pleasure in reading about real people's exploits and experiences and especially how they describe themselves and what they have gone through. I find that willingness to share one's humanity and the courage it takes to air one's laundry and leave it flapping in the breeze, to be pretty irresistible. A life of child abuse, one equally bad marriage, childbirth, and a terrifying divorce later -- I discover who I really am, and that happiness isn't found, it's made. Somehow, even when it was at its worst, I was always able to find the good in life and give my teddy-bear a hug for support. Remember, it will always get better. This is my story of how I have dealt with the various events, trials and tribulations and succeeded in life and now an author of a memoir that many people seem to want to read.
