An ordinary balloon flight precipitates extraordinary changes. In A SENIOR'S MOMENT, violent events associated with the short flight terminate several lives. Other routine lives change forever. The terrified pilot of the dark grey hot air balloon makes a clumsy landing in the desert and, running for his life, heads for the nearest person in sight. Instead of finding aid, he is murdered. When the police arrive, the body lies on the patio of a nearby home and the balloon has disappeared. The owner of the home, Bill Hamilton, a salesman, and his wife April, a legal assistant, are warned in an email not to disclose to the police something undefined hidden on their property. They have no idea what the email was referring to; crime scene officials apparently found nothing. The Hamilton's are then stalked by a sadistic criminal. They cannot fathom why. Nothing had been disclosed. They know nothing to disclose. They must nullify the threat by solving the murder on their own. The police, acting on a different theory, will not help. Possibly culpable characters are involved in a series of affairs that swirl around like New Mexico desert dust devils, further confusing the baffling case. Ultimately Bill, with no experience in deadly confrontations, must face the killer alone and somehow kill or be killed. How can he possibly survive, much less solve the who and the how of the murder?
