The Handbook of Preparing Counselors and Other Helping Professionals is the first single volume text to guide faculty, counselor educators, and supervisors in training on how to teach and develop counselor education programs. This book fills a need for providing a fully comprehensive guide on how to educate future counselor educators and supervisors as well as faculty in other helping professions such as counseling psychologists, social workers, and human service doctoral candidates. This book has the official stamp of approval of the Association of Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES), the key organization that guides and approves curriculum for counselor education programs. This organizational sponsorship will be a key in promoting, endorsing and validating this text as the official guide to train new counselor educators. The book will consist of three parts and 33 chapters. The first part will provide an introduction to counselor education theory, including constructivist, developmental, and experiential approaches. Part II will suggest ways to incorporate theory into program planning and the curriculum. Part III will review all the major courses and area "topics" according to CACREP, the national accrediting and licensing organization for professional counselors.
