Vince Gardiner is Director of the School of Social Science and Professor of Geography, Liverpool John Moores University. His work on water resources includes Water Demand Forecasting, with Paul Herrington (GeoBooks, 1986), and he edited the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG)’s Geographical Journal from 1995 to 1998. Hugh Matthews is Professor of Geography and Director of the Centre of Children and Youth at University College Northampton. Hugh is editor of the Journal of Geography in Higher Education and past Director of the Geography Discipline Network. He has written many books and journal articles including Making Sense of Place: Children's Understanding of Large-scale Environments (Harvester-Wheatsheaf, 1992).
