It is an easy read with an engaging story yet it doesn't skim over the difficult or awkward spiritual questions we encounter on a daily basis. Ultimately, you'll discover that the true struggle for the Christian is not against sin but is more in the struggle to advance in godly obedience. Most novels are entertaining in that they carry you along by the emotions and imagination. Although they are certainly enjoyable to read, it is a bit discouraging that, when you are done with them, you are left with the feeling of having catered to yourself rather than having grown in any way. This book is an edifying novel, for you learn along with the main character rather than merely being an observer of him and the different events in his life. You are carried along by a desire to learn, not merely a desire to be entertained.
