Peace research emerged an oppositional movement to mainstream thinking about power politics and nuclear deterrence. During the 1990s, peace research and security studies largely found a common agenda and merged into the mainstream of International Relations and is now one of several streams of critical approach within the field. This volume brings together internationally prominent scholars to take stock of contemporary peace research and security studies and explore its present challenges and future developments. Dietrich Jung is a political scientist who also specialises in Islamic studies.He is currently a senior researcher at the Institute for International Studies, Denmark.
