Gheciu and Wohlforth have assembled a diverse group of world-class scholars to survey the complex and contested field of international security. The result is a superb collection of essays that cover almost every important perspective and topic in that field. What is especially impressive about the various essays is that they are future oriented, which helps the reader think about where the field is headed. Every student of international security should have this handbook on his or her bookshelf.
