Stephen Grover Cleveland (1837 - 1908) is the only person to be elected President for two non-consecutive terms (1885 - 1889 and 1893 - 1897). Prior to becoming President, Cleveland served as the Mayor of Buffalo New York, and later as Governor of New York.
