Black Bottom Exodus is a novel which chronicles over 26 days the lives of African-Americans living on the fictional barrier island known as Black Bottom. We also glimpse the lives of Caucasians who live in and around Charleston, S. C. and who are in charge of maintaining the Jim Crow caste system. The central character Rocky, is a young physically challenged adult male whose life is turned upside down.
