Fostered in the Northern part of the land a girl and her dragon win the heart of the people. Alana's adventure begins when visions of the forgotten East come to her. Joined by a wizard and merfolk she attempts to defy Lucas, the evil lord of the South, who has called upon a shadow to cast darkness over the land. Those that are loyal to Alana of the East encounter magical creatures and an unexpected tribe of wondrous folk on their journey through Midland. Ships sail and giants of legend walk the earth once again in this tale of returning home.
