This is a novel about a young and very intelligent girl who, through the intervention of a store clerk, escaped the stifling Social Services foster care system to become a very fortunate young women. Set in Alaska, Washington and Oregon it gets into areas such as abuse in foster care, elitism in school athletics, drug smuggling, and Alaskan native villages.

Some readers of the first book, From The Skin Out, wanted a more upbeat ending so I changed the last few chapters and republished it as an alternate ending book.
