This book is useful for both the faculty members and the students. It vividly describes the optical conditions of the sulfur recovery unit and the catalytic performance of the alumina (Gamma -Al2O3) and bauxite (Al2O3.H2O). Furthermore, the main objective of this book is to find an optimal diameter of alumina (Gamma -Al2O3) and bauxite (Al2O3.H2O) pellets after blocking catalyst pellet pores by liquid sulfur. Macro- and micro-pores volume of the pellets was considered to be a function of pellet size. The modeling results showed 4.55 mm diameter Gamma-Al2O3 and Al2O3.H2O pellets as the most optimal catalyst for application to the second and third reactors. As the catalytic reaction proceeds, deactivation of the catalyst bed increases and at the reactor length decreases. Compared with the third reactor, the pellets pores of the second reactor are more blocked and therefore they shall be replaced soon. In both reactors, Gamma-Al2O3 catalyst is more effective than Al2O3.H2O one. As the results show that pellets with a minimum micro- and macro-pores volume and coordination number or Bethe lattice parameter of 6 are more suitable to use in catalytic reactors.
