This book of my drawings is a testimonial of my travels in North Africa, the African islands of the Seychelles, Zanzibar and Mombasa, and of the Levant. Many drawings are in pencil, and most are in black on white, my preferred medium until recently.

With this book of drawings of the historic centre of Terracina, I wanted to send a message of gratitude toward the city and its people. My aim was to reveal and foster respect for the value, fascination, and dignity hidden in this "urbs antiqua." The drawings are black on white, my preferred medium at the time.

In Spring 1991, my husband and I took a brief trip to the south of France, to the Cote d'Azur and Alpes-Maritime, motivated by the notion of buying a holiday home. In our search for a home, we focussed on properties around Grasse. The object that caught our attention was a village perched beguilingly on the top of a hill.
