Chemokines play an important role in the onset and development of inflammatory diseases. In addition, due to the systemic inflammatory response syndrome which develops after onset of the diseases, complications of other organs results in the development of multiple organ dysfunction. Being a significant activator for neutrophils, the chemokine IL-8 plays an important role in the cascade of inflammation. Like many other inflammatory diseases (psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis, lung disease), that the levels of serum IL-8 serum are overexpressed in Acute pancreatitis. At the same time, the extensive effects of increased IL-8 activity on tumor pathogenesis make it a unique therapeutic target in cancer therapy. For example, IL-8 promotes tumor growth, angiogenesis, and metastasis in murine models of several cancers. Moreover, blocking IL-8 activity with a monoclonal antibody has been shown to decrease tumor growth in two murine cancer models. Blockade of IL-8 expression in some human melanoma cell lines by antisense RNA has shown that IL-8 functions as an autocrine growth modulator for these cells. So, IL-8 may be important for inflammation and cancer as a reason.
