The concept of a single-window Citizen Facilitation Center, named as Jan Suvidha, was initiated in May 2007 at Tezu, the headquarters of the Lohit district, as the first step towards providing a transparent and self-sustaining model of e-governance in the state of Arunachal Pradesh. Subsequently, the Jan Suvidha Centers have been established at Singchung (May, 2008), Khonsa (August, 2008), Yingkiong (September, 2008), Namsai (November, 2008) and Bomdila (May 2009) respectively. TThe concept of Jan Suvidha was ideated in May 2007 by the then district administration of Lohit with the primary objective of providing all the services to the citizens under 'one roof using computers.' Concomitantly, it would have served the purpose of making a changeover of the administrative machinery from the age old manual system to an electronic system of governance keeping in tune with the changes being effected in the other states of the country in particular and across the globe in general. While on one hand, such a move has resulted in a calibrated expansion of providing transparent governance mechanism by appropriating it to the need of the people of a particular location.
