Kelly J. O'Grady is a native of Richmond, Virginia. He holds a history degree from the College of William and Mary, and a master's degree from the University of Mary Washington. A former historian with the National Park Service, he has written and lectured on Civil War topics for twelve years. His 2000 non-fiction book, Clear the Confederate Way: The Irish in the Army of Northern Virginia was a ground-breaking study of the Irish immigrants in Robert E. Lee's Confederate army. The University of South Carolina listed it as one of the 100 books everyone should read about the Civil War.
